ACADEMICS

STRUCTURE AND FOUNDATION
Our Academic Structure is layed down on the foundations of the Ontario approved curriculam. All teachers have analyzed the requirements of each grade, and created a yearly, monthly and weekly schedule based upon it. Furthermore, they develop a daily lesson plan, which enables substitute teachers to stay on track on in the rare case of teacher absences.

While it is important for each child to meet the requirements of his or her grade level, it is more important for us to nurture the potential of a child so that he or she is achieving to the highest level of thier capabilities.

ENGLISH

Brock Elementary School has adopted the EVAN MOORE learning series as the structure for language, comprehension and literature developments. Students in JK/SK will start with basic letter and word recognition, phonics and sight and sound activities. The Evan Moore publications allow for the mental development to compliment fine motor skills.  This is evident in the entire series up to Grade 8.

MATH

Numeracy is a subject of great regard. All numerical matter has been assigned to the NIELSON MATH series for the latter grades, and EVAN MOORE series for the early grades. Geography, co-ordination and systematic prinicpaling are sub-categories introduced through both math and science.

SCIENCE

Our science program is an enriching process that begins in the early grades. One of the most unique aspects of our science program, is the incorporating of Quranic Sciences into modern theories. The highly recognized SCIENCE SMART series is the text book of choice for our school. However, our program draws a more physical approach to science, with hands on learning and development.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Though no solid text is readily available for Social Studies, our educators have put forth a program incorporating some of the finest available literature into our very own social curiculam. Students in early grades focus primarily on communities, structures and placement. While the latter grades detail native tribes, world development, astronomy and healthy living enviroments.

ART

Art is an expression of form and feeling. Students at Brock Elementary thrive at thier artistic endevours. Painting, Abstract, charcoal, free form and sculpting are just some of the categories of art introduced to our student over the course of the year, and based on the grade. An Alternate form of artistic expression is achieved through the dramatic arts, as well as the social arts.
